How could I fit a 12V bulb inside my computer case, and have it powered from one of my 12v outlets?
I have a 12v outlet on my computer, which requires you to strip down the wire and insert the bare end in. It looks like this:

How could I fit a 12v lightbulb to this?
The image I linked to is a fan controller, and has a switch on the front for a 12v appliance. The lightbulb definetly would not be on all the time, as one reply explained quite throughly why, just sometimes to illuminate the inside completly.
You could do something like this... but I'd really recommend against it!
As my cohert mentioned above, these kinds of devices are powered by 12v DC current, not 12v AC current (the power supply is basically a transformer that converts household AC current into all the different DC currents needed by the computer.) So you'd have to buy a 12v DC bulb.
The other issue becomes one of heat generation. A standard light bulb, even a small one, will generate a substantial amount of heat. Placing one inside your case is going to introduce a source of heat that will then need to be vented somehow... and most cases aren't designed to properly vent an incandescent light source. That's why most case lighting is done using cold cathode sources... they produce light without heat. If you think that a single light-bulb wouldn't introduce that much heat just remember: an easy-bake oven is quite capable of cooking food, and its only source of heat is a single light bulb!
If you really want to add lighting to your rig, I would suggest looking at any of the hundreds of kits that are readily available and engineered for just this task. You won't have to do any kind of bizarre tinkering to get them to work, and you'll probably be happier with the end result. Check out the following site for some ideas:

If you want to do this, you would need to find some place that sells lightbulb sockets. I would do a Google search for "12-volt light bulb sockets" and see what comes up. If you can find a simple socket with 2-wire leads, you should be able to connect that right in. Some place like this might be able to help you out:

I would also check local automotive, boat or RV suppliers, since cars, boats and RVs all use 12-volt supplies. You may be able to find a good value at a local place, and you'll be able to see the bulb and socket assembly before purchasing.
Also... and this is extremely important... make sure your wattages are within tolerance, too. I don't know how many watts your controller puts out, but you'll want to buy a light that stays within that limit. I saw lights on the site I included that use as little as 1-watt, but many use up to 10-watts. So be certain that the switch puts out the 12-volts and a high enough wattage for the light you wish to buy.
